Does anyone here use game maker? I'm just curious... Cause I recently got really interested in GM5... It's not your typical "No coding required!" game creator... You actually need to do some coding. It has a scripting/coding language simmilar to c++, actually... So does anyone here use/like it?

I've tried some games made with 'Game Maker' (don't know if it was version 5.0 though) and I suppose it's a good game-maker. What I heard (or read) is that it's not so great for crpgs though, but better for arcade/action games.
Other game-makers I've tried out are: ohrrpgce,rpg-toolkit and zelda-classic... If I ever must chose to pick one of them and actually make a game using it, I'd chose ohrrpgce. Why? Simple, userfriendly and big community...but what do I know ;) _________________ Jocke The Beast

I haven't used a game maker since I made a little game using RPG Tsukuru: Super Dante (imported SFC) about 10 years ago.
Why? Well, there werent really any game makers around when I started about 6 years ago. And, by the time I noticed a few around I was too used to what I was doing. I considered it more work to learn some new thing than to keep doing what I already was. I guess some of them are pretty fancy and let you control enough stuff that you arent really making someone else's generic game, but then that's a lot more work to learn, and once you know it you only know THAT game maker, so it's not a good investment in time by my thinking. Maybe my understanding of these things is a bit outdated though.

Yeah, the scripting language of Game Maker makes it just like programming except more directly geared towards games. _________________ That's not a broken link, it's a PICTURE of a broken link. It's really very conceptual.
