Sounds interetsting but i cannot play the game. I start the exe and it says "PATH NOT FOUND IN MODULE .... BLABLA"

any reason for it? I simple extracted it, and it cannot find itself.

Same here. Was this even tested on other machines?

I did a hex edit on the executable and did a quick search... I found a string with a hard coded path in it:

f:\progra~1\pp256\palettes\rhino.pal

Couldn't find any other :\'s, though. That might be the problem file right there.

That, or the bad path is in one of the datafiles.

Yeh... If I'm not mistaken pp256 would be pixel plus 256... I don't remember all of it, but I recall something about you not being able to put the files in a different directory... Or not being able to open file in a different directory- Maybe that has something to do with his pallette being in a fixed location. Dunno.

If it uses hardcoded paths... do you think the game is worth playing? I mean seriously.. only newbies and idiots use full paths.

The same could also be said about QBASIC.
Or about using thunks to access hardware instead of just writing your game in a native 32-bit language.

But I digress. I don't think a full path making it into a compo game means that the creator is an idiot. Though your assumption that it does casts you in a bit of a negative light... It's very common for compo games to get released without a lot of testing. That's how pulling things out of your ass to meet a deadline goes.

Well, don't take it the wrong way because that's typical of Ninkazu. Apparently he thinks he is some kind of godly coder when as far as I and anyone else with a brain can tell he hasn't made anything worthwhile enough to put everyone else down.

That's not a very nice thing to say, or very diplomatic either.

It's not what I've done, but rather, what I can do.

Kind of sad how diplomacy is a skill that every game developer needs to survive on the internet :)

Screw dimplomacy. I'm neither a newbie or an idiot, but your attitude is pissing me off Ninkazu. I simply forgot about that hardcoded path. It'll never happen again and I will out up a new version of CW asap. And seriously... who's the idiot?

I think I got a bit pissed on dear Ninkazu.
Sorry. I'll put the new zip up tomorrow.
