not that i think this will bring it back on topic, but it really would depend on the game and the storyline.

some storylines just won't do well broken up into seperate games.

you also need to just step back and think to yourself "am i trying to pack too much into a small thing?".. square pegs, round holes.

i think the best games start as a single venture while having an idea of where it is going. most of what ruins movie/bok to game conversions is when they are trying to fit things in a game, or put too little in the game to extend the franchise longevity.

in this indie rpg scene, i don't think you need to worry about franchises. worry about getting a good solid game out there for people to play.

I can certainly see what you mean...
Although I'm not going for franchise. ;)
The EAA story is one I've been dearly wanting to get out of my system for a long time and show it to the community...
And that's pretty much it.
As Arias would put it, it's a bit of a 'vision'. (He doesn't seem to get what I'm trying to do, by the way. Apparently he thinks no one can live up to Grenideer. Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE Diver Down fan, but the "I can never live up to these people" mentality is not the way to go. =P)
So, simply put, all I want to do is tell a story through this game/game series, nothing more.
I'm just not sure how to split it up.
(Though I have pretty much decided on three seperate games, using the same engine, etc...)

EDIT: Book to game conversions? This is an original story...

i meant this as an example that most could relate to, take a big movie franchise like lord of the rings, also a book franchise. there is so much that you want to put in to be true to the story, but to put it all in one game?

release one and hope for many. :D

Ah. My mistake.
True, there is a lot of content, I might have to take some out of what I originally had in mind...
