Okay...I had a chance to look at some differences between 2nd and 3rd editions, and my decision to stick with 2nd was totally correct. IMO, even 2nd edition wasn't detailed enough, leaving a lot of opportunity for the DM to make things up as the game progressed. 3rd edition seems to put the majority of the work under the DM's control. They simplified a system which was already quite simple. I don't like it. I'm sticking with 2nd edition, as it makes the most sense to me.
