Which Libraries have been good to you?
So far I have tried two of them:
Rel Library: Problems with memory, and no real p*p scrolling.
Dash Library:Ok, using it to remake Dies Irae, but can't pcopy within the script for some reason.
I want your input, though. Tell us about your favorite library and why it's special to you. _________________ I do what I like. Do you have a problem with that?

GSlib: small, fast, nothing I don't need (and the very few things I may not need I can leave out)
No EMS or XMS crap in it, just graphics (and gsinit is awesome)

ImHhh Here,
Yeah, for some reason, when I want Dash to pcopy within my scripter, QB just shuts down completely. I can get along just fine without it, but I fear of running into memory problems.
I could try learning DJGPP, but I don't have that kind of time; I leave for the navy in less than a year, which means Dies Irae Remake will probably be my last game.
Oh well, thanks though.

if your having memory problems with rellib, try deleting subroutines you don't need from rellib
also, you should be able to make your own pixel scrolling engine. relsoft didn't make a pixel scrolling function in his lib for a reason. where would be the challenge?
check the darkdread games post for information on libraries. _________________ Adosorken: I always liked slutty 10th graders...

I didn't even know there were libs with built-in p*p scrolling engines... What's next, a lib with a built-in game? _________________ http://www.weeaboo.se

Well, I'm going to kick Rel to the curb. It's overloaded, and I don't see why I would want MOUSE SUPPORT WHEN I'M TRYING TO MAKE A FREAKIN CONSOLE STYLE!!!
Ahem, anyway...Im a believer in GS now, but I'm still going to finish out my current project in Dash. I fear that by the time I do my next game, Qbasic will no longer work on the computers of that day.

- QB13H and GSLib were ones I used. I also adapted Nexus-13 to use those libraries. _________________ - Jaeda

I've used them all. I only have 2 QB games in development right now (my last 2 evar! hahahaha); one uses Useless Sock (my own library, it's an ASCII graphics library), the other uses an RTe/DashX combination. I much prefer coding in Windows nowadays, and for that, I use TinyPTC with DirectX exclusively.
It seems like you're being specific to graphics libraries, but what about sound libraries? :D For QB, I use a heavily modified UGL for sound and music, and for everything else, it's either Bass or FMOD. :D
I was the very first "official" supporter of Dash (I released the very first game using it, wheeeeeeee), so it will always be a special library to me. :D QB13H was written by a good friend of mine in Norway (Sten Daniel Sordsal); him and I helped each other out over the years a lot in real-life terms. And GSlib was written by a former LSS member (Jason Gould, aka The Brain), so of course it's special to me as well. :D I used DirectQB while developing Killers (a fighting game) despite everyone ragging on Angelo for making the library. Nexus-13 was the first library I ripped to shreds in a publication of QBOA. :D
Wow, talk about memory lane. :D _________________ If you play a Microsoft CD backwards you can hear demonic voices. The scary part is that if you play it forwards it installs Windows. - wallace
