Just wanted to let you know my website is up. It is very empty but I will be adding more content soon.
I am not artistic at all, hence my site being very basic and generaly shoddy.
http://www.rpg-dreamer.co.uk
The site shall have tutorials for c++ and directX and also has a forum where you can all go and discuss.

Well here's a piece of advice. You should never promote a site or game without content, because people will check it out and conclude that it's not worth visiting again, even if you fill it up with goodies. I don't mean to be offensive or harsh, I'm just trying to help you by saying that this is to waste others time while hurting your own sites future. Just give it some thought ;)
The problem is your site there brings nothing new yet, which will be of little more than a slight annoyance to those who follow the link. Next time, put some contents on it before promoting it. Just my $ 0.02

As soon as the site has anough that'll make it worth a visit for RPGDX visitors, I'll add a link to the affiliates. Also, as articles and projects appear on that website, RPGDX can link to those. I think it will be ok, but indeed it would have been good to have something of interest on a first launch. :-)

You're right potato, of course I can't speak on the ways of the entire community.
Still, I can't see what good it would do anybody to visit a site without content...
Anyways, whenever you put some content on the site, I'll be happy to stop by. It's just not really much of an expirience to drop by an empty site...

What would be really good is to see one with content. _________________ https://numbatlogic.com

Perhaps you should check the articles section off the main page. _________________ https://numbatlogic.com

Whatever.
Promoting a site with little design and no contents is like promoting a tile engine with one repeating tile. Sure, it could be the beginning of something good, but for now, it's just not worth the look.
But at least he writes that before the link. I still don't see the point though.

I agree with the others, that you should've had some content on your site before announcing it.
But, I do have to say that I rather like the design, excluding the newsposts..(make them a little smaller and more defined.. maybe even a border) and the skin you used for the forum looks pretty cool.
Anyway, like I said on your site, you are free to host my articles on your site, just don't change anything.
Email me about it. _________________ Principal Software Architect

personally, i think one or two sites is a good size, more just thins out the pool. however, added interest is good to have.
the indie-rpg scene is small on the net, and the two sites i frequent (rpgdx/rpg-dev) each have their quirks and flaws, and i enjoy wasting a couple minutes of my day surfing each.
what would be cool is if everyone helped bring another site into the fold, thus making it a real community, rather than just being cold to the whole idea.

You don't get the point! When the site has content, I'll be happy to go there. But before that, it shouldn't be promoted!

That's sort of a catch 22: how can a "community" based site garner content if no one knows about it?
That said, lack of content is a bad thing. I didn't really care for the site layout. (I especially do not see the connection between rpgs and space.) _________________ "...LeoDraco is a pompus git..." -- Mandrake
