Or some dirty underpants. Anyway, why complain about three seconds? I mean, the board has other speed issues that is more important to take care of.

its a sense of semantics, why is a thread unread to me if i post in it. that's all really, why should i reaffirm that its my posting, yada yada. its not a complaint, just a question. if the board was written in a way that makes it hard to auto read a topic that was just posted, i'm baffled.

as for jeff, i think he's looking at that goat sechxz thing.

the speed on the board is much better than it was weeks ago, the gnomes in the background got their stuff together. kudos to you.

I already explained this. If I'd mark the thread read up to your post, any posts that were posted while you were writing your message will be marked read as well.

And what, I'm a gnome in the background!? Now hold on a minute...

That would be because your phpBB board is not mine. It probably does the default new post indication whereas this phpBB board does it my way. Notice in particular how on this board, you can leave and re-login later to continue reading the new posts you didn't have time for the first time. They'll still be marked new as long as you didn't click the thread, instead of everything before your first visit being assumed read as the original phpBB does. Worth noting is that when the re-login would occur accidentally or because of connection problems (I had this a lot while on dialup), you won't loose the information about which posts are still new.

Gerbil doesn't sound any better, no. :-P
