Just in case anyone's interested, I just posted a shockwave app to my web site in response to another thread that demonstrates a way of customizing a character's graphics using item templates.
http://homepage.mac.com/nephilim/shockwaves/composite.html
Basically, you can choose from a list of templates for a character, and you can choose different colors for each template - even the character herself if you want different skin tones.
Thought it would be appropriate to post it in the graphics forum.
(EDIT - Btw, you'll need Shockwave for Director installed to see the app. Get it from the macromedia web site.)

Is there a Shockwave player for Linux I'm missing somewhere? _________________ We are on the outer reaches of someone else's universe.

Unfortunately, no. That's one of my biggest gripes with Director.

Neat. Seems akin to what I am trying to do. Except, of course, mine wouldn't be able to select 6 different hair styles to make active :)
FYI- Shockwave tries to install spyware. Stupid coperations. _________________ "Well, last time I flicked on a lighter, I'm pretty sure I didn't create a black hole."-

Esp since people have to pay a god-awfull amount of money just to make things with it. But, meh, at least it asks me if I want to install it, rather than just doing so without my say-so. But how many people, when installing something, will just click yes and not read it? That sucks.
No offense to you Nephlim. _________________ "Well, last time I flicked on a lighter, I'm pretty sure I didn't create a black hole."-
