Good luck witrh Freya, and IMO the break may be more important than a new release! Don't overwork yourself. I did, and fell into a bad burnout slump.

Wish this warning would have sooner, heh. Needless to say, I've burnt out. I'm dropping Freya. And programming. I can keep doing it at my day job and all that, but I think as a hobbyist I'm just dropping it. Programming was eating up way too much of my freetime, and I was finding less and less work that was interesting. I also wasn't making games anymore. I was trying to find a game to work on, but nothing seemed to pop out at me.

So that's it. It's not a break anymore. I'm just not coding. I've already started picking up my other hobbies (writing and painting mostly), and I think I might still want to do games, from time to time. Just not program than anymore.

I had (and still have) the same problem -- but it entirely relates to my day job. I'm barely plodding along with my projects, most of which are at a standstill. Once I score a new job (which may be in the near future) I'm sure my creative mojo will return in full force.

I've got too many cool things to work on to just abandon them all forever :)

I felt pretty much felt like you, Mandrake, do now all last year. If you let it rest for awhile, inspiration might come back :).

I'm at the point where I try to do one thing a day (no matter how small) just to keep the creative energy flowing.

Isn't it strange that we all have this problem roughly the same time? End of 2004 I retired from a project that I had been working on for 7 years, and I almost don't do anything for H-World anymore.

Aliens are stealing our lifeforce!

Not that I'd really complain. Not being coding, not being painting, I have time to do sports again, time to read and time to just fool around (a particular valuable way to waste time:) )

It's been more than 10 years that I played my snyth. I was just too crazy about my programs, and dropped to many of other activities which I rediscover now.

I'm not sure. I enjoy making games, I enjoy writing, I enjoy doing pixel art, but I never really enjoyed programming. I did it as a means to an end. I'm just leaving it behind now. Doesn't mean I won't work on games- just means I won't program them. I have other avenues I need to explore instead.

I haven't worked on the Shifter engine for about a month now. I kind of stalled before writing the script code for the battle functions. Never tested if everything worked right. If it did, then all that would be left are the extras, like animations.

Anyway, I'd like to get started up again, but I'm a little disorganized after all this time, and there's a lot of things to be done. And then I start considering restarting the Threads of Life project...my head starts to spin.

I'll get something done eventually.

A few months ago I needed something new as well I guess, so I joined The Mana World. At the moment I'm still really interested in this project, and I really hope I won't burn out on it within at least another few months. Though I know it's hard to avoid.

Suffering from my interest in TMW are other RPG projects (DGE, Dropzone and new Cave Adventure version that are all on hold now) and in part, also development on this website, and finally my studies, heh.

And Tiled. Though I, too, have not found much time in my schedule for it lately. The 0.5.0 release was taxing. I still start it up now and then, and I owe people things in it, so. It's asleep, not dropped.

Yes but Tiled is going to be used for TMW, so I while I'm not active in its development at the moment, I kinda did feel Tiled wasn't on hold. By now I've integrated the basic .tmx loader, and I still have to add base64 and gzip support.
