I say hold off another while. I've only got about two months left of college, and I'd quite like a compitition after that. Any sooner and I can't take part.

I'm with Chaotic Harmony on this one, wait awhile longer.

I'd like to actually get a complete entry this time around, and since I shouldn't need to write any more tools, I think I can do it.

I vote for May-June around there.

May-June sounds perfect for me. The most important thing this time around is to have as many to compete and as many to complete.

:) I'm in!

my suggested ruleset: - may be altered any time..just trying to help get this thing going.
Code:

* engine may be created before the contest
* all content may be created before the contest - except the game's events (the scripts that drive the story)
* game's must have some type of humorous theme
* any program and or language may be used, including game maker, rpgmaker, sphere, etc..
* title, and gameover 'splash-screens' are required
* custom tilesets are a must. You need to draw your own graphics for the game.
* minimum gameplay time: 1 hour
* stories must be your own (or your team's) not used from any other source
* no obscenities
* And over all have fun! That is what this is all about!

Okay, thats my little contribution to get this contest out of the clouds on on it's feet.
:)

Yeah I think we should. Otherwise I think this would be... kinda like that point when the economy gets so bad it can only get worse, ya know?

This community definitely needs a shot in the arm.

You know, I really think that DevX has a good idea there: produce more bonafide content--and better RPG gameplay--by moving the world design to the forefront, as opposed to the engine design.

I think that two days of teamwork could make a pretty good mini-RPG, don't you guys?

I think that you should do all tiles by yourself. Otherwise I think the rules superb.

Yep. I think RPGDX needs this kind of events. Very much. Have fun is the meaning of doing this ;)

Ok, a contest could sure be fun. The rules as DeveloperX wrote them down seem to continue the line of freedom previous contents have granted, and I don't think this is a bad thing.

I will consider organising this when there are at least 5 serious participants (or teams). I mean people that don't plan to cancel a few days before the contest and have their planning moderately in order.

What if you're thinking of doing a satire of an existing RPG?

If YOU, or someone on YOUR TEAM has drawn the graphics, then that is fine.

What I mean is, if you were to want to spoof Ultima or something, you might want to use some ripped graphics for the purpose of satire, for example, something like Garote's "Untima 9" game.

I just want to note that I support the contest rule here. You can't use any graphics from other people's games. Btw, using ripped graphics is illegal by default regardless of the rules.
