Maybe I should have rephrased that. The scene that I had been part of a long time ago, with DarkDread and XMark and Ninkazu had been a part of us dying. What I mean is that all the people I used to hang out with for years on end are leaving. Some are staying behind, but I only wonder how long they'll stick around.
It's a very sad thing. But in the wake of that scene another scene is coming into fruition. I guess when I said the scene is dying, it was the same thing I had meant when I said the QBRPG scene was dying. I mean more that people were leaving it and going on to do other things, and another scene had come in it's wake (at that point it was DarkDread's site, it had a very active message board, after that we all went to GDR, and then after that we all came here). _________________ "Well, last time I flicked on a lighter, I'm pretty sure I didn't create a black hole."-

I'm gone for a few months and look what happens!
I'm sorry to see Ninkazu go. Despite a few things, he's a good guy. Last i heard though, he had quite a few things going on in his life. Lots of university stuff he's getting ready for.
Yeah, it's sad. The indie-rpg scene just isn't want it used to be... rpg-dev, which used to be as active as rpgdx, now only has a few noobs who come every once in a while to ask how to make an rpg, along with a few people who pop by every once in a while. Something I believe that leans people away from game making is when they try to do it. Once they try to make a game from scratch, they realize how much effort must truly go into making games and they give up.
Just my 2 cents. _________________ Adosorken: I always liked slutty 10th graders...

Boy I missed those two placed when they died. But then again what can you do? I felt the scene slipping away from me a little while back, but I always kinda miss somewhere were we can hang out and just talk about games, and how I would have done this or that differently on whatever the last game was I played, and then you could actually try and do it. I guess someone could shift the focus to be more content-driven though, somewhere where we can just put out ideas and artwork without actually having to make anything, but without stopping people from making something if they feel inclined. I'd love to see something like that. _________________ Previous nicks: MidnightDreamer, The_Anarchist, Shroomasta.

If there really seems to be a gap, I'd like to see an RPGMX for MMOGs, etc.

Maybe after indies have actually figured out how to make MMOGs that don't suck?
I mean, really... not to rain on anybody's parade, but I've never seen a good indie MMOG. Ever. Unless you count MUDs, of course, and even those aren't all that great. Hell, even most of the retail MMOGs aren't all that terriffic. There are too many things preventing indies from making a good MMOG.

I think there are several good indie morpg games. The last time I played it, Loradon was decent and that was a while ago, I'm sure it has been improved a lot since then. I've seen as many as 30 - 40 people online at the same time... not exactly massive, but a strong start. Currently their website says there are 15 people online.
There is also Deloria, though I don't know if it is still in active development and it seemed to have many more issues with the server overall.
Both of them are indie developed online RPG games.

God... Do I miss the old Darkness Ethereal time... that board was, most of the time, extremely active. It seems like most of the oldschool boys from the mid 90's are... well, getting other stuff to deal with... work (back then, well most of us where silly schoolboys with a rather big amount of spare time at hand) or perhaps building a family of your own. That is stuff that will happen to all of us eventually and we will be on this kind of forums more less, code less and then quit it totaly. What am I trying to say? Well... time flies and we changes...
Note that I am drunk writing this. _________________
