What part of small business don't you understand?

Businesses don't operate by giving stuff away FREE.. They simply can't.. Even SourceForge is taking *ALOT* of flack because it leads users/people to believe they are "leading the OpenSource movement." - But they sell SourceForge enterprise for thousands of dollars.. And you can not have the source code to the app.. (period) How do you know they didn't steal community routines to put into their thousand dollar application?

I never bought any of the dictionaries.. I simply found a nice free one and translated it for my needs. It took some coding to convert the file, but nonetheless a dictionary/spell check feature adds value to an application...

Could we please *NOT* talk about Explorations? That is not what this discussion is about. - I've said all I have to say about the pricing.. (LITE = $20, FULL = $60, COMMERCIAL = $399, & MMO = $599) - COMM & MMO is current on sale for 33% off.

Jesus Christ, you are a touchy bastard. Your exact quote implied that you had to pay for those dictionaries that you threw into Explorations. I was simply offering free alternatives. And what part of "open source" implies "not for profit"? Red Hat and SUSE both rake in exorbitant amounts of money on open source software.

LMAO..

And thus.. the immaturity I was speaking about..

Listen asshole, this discussion is NOT about Explorations. So stop bringing it up. If you don't like it.. Don't order it.. - I never said I bought the lists.. I'm simply pointing out that small businesses can start from selling ANYTHING.. People sell simple dictionary lists for $500 so why question me selling a functional piece of software (which includes a dictionary list, mind you) for $60.

Geez.. no wonder nobody posts...

Immaturity? Who was the one whom was pissy first? You are not the god-awesome fucker you think you are. Get off of your high horse, "asshole". You have these silly illusions of grandeur that are --- I cannot believe I am saying this --- worse than the delusions of Galbalan.

And where, pray tell, did I ever question your selling of your silly piece of software? Hmm? Certainly not in this thread.

Can't u just stay on topic? This is not about Explorations.. I do NOT need you to psycho-analyze me.. Please, spare me.. Little child...

Instead.. pretend like I didn't post.. Take your head out of your ass. And stay on topic.. ;)

You are the EXACT reason why quality projects aren't participating on this website. And thus... I'm out..

Where, indeed? Probably from whence you came.

Disregarding the obvious exceptions, why do you assume every post in response to something you said is either (a) a attack on you, or (b) about your software? You're the fucker who needs his head removed from his ass. Assfuck.

No. No I'm not. You would be the reason for that. Quality projects? As if your silly piece of shit qualifies for that.

Stop bringing it up then, this conversation is going around in circles. Also, I rather doubt the reason few people post is because LeoDraco doesn't like people who whinge. Personally, I think it's because some forum discussions can get quite insular, and I also suspect we don't have that much publicity. What about some sort of beginners forum on the new RPGDX? Also, how about some additions to make it less coder-oriented, like a Mock-up's competition? It's a thought anyway.

People who come to a forum and see a project that shows quality and potential flamed are really "turned-off" by such a community.

Now, to be fair, that's not what started this. If someone comes here and shows quality stuff, they don't get flamed as a matter of course. LeoDraco is blunt to be sure, but he makes good points about games for the people who are willing to listen. Personally, I liked the look of your stuff, although I haven't seen any demos or anything, and I tried to give some constructive criticism and suggestions about your pricing model. And there were some who came to your pricing model's defense. So please don't generalize and simplify the behavior of this forum's members. Like any other place, we've got a whole range of people here, including people who will call you on it when their bullshit detectors go off, which, rightfully or not, you have triggered.

That said, I think it's clear that this discussion is devolving quickly, and the last thing you want if you're trying to sell an RPG maker is to garner a bad rep on RPG hobbyist web sites. My suggestion would be this. Since you already have a lot of commercial edition clients out there, point us to some of the games that they've produced, and let the quality of those games speak for themselves. You're far better off making your point with your product than with a virtual shouting match, and there are probably some lurkers here who would want to check those games out.
