Well guys, I had to evacuate to texas.
my home will be completely wiped out by 50 foot storm surges.
I plan on starting a new life in Texas.
I have my computer with me, though I am using a kiosk at the visitor center in Lake Charles, LA right now.

I hope to have a place to stay at my cousin's in Houston Tx, but I dont know.

I may have to get a day job to sustain my life, I don't know what will happen.
and just pray for me, and my family, as we head out to Texas with as much as we could fit in a small car and a small van... :(

Cya...I hope.

Update:

I am in/near Houston Texas, at my uncle's house.
..Thank God he has highspeed internet here..I would die with Dialup. :D

According to the newscasts, LA has 4 to 8 feet of water in most areas.
My house and my parents house are in some of the lowest areas....which means..under water.

I am going to live in Texas from here on out,
I will head back to New Orleans in about a week to assess the damages, and salvage any of my stuff if possible.
Then I will be moving here, get a job, a car, a place to stay,
and start a new life.

I might not be online much for a couple months.
Only time will tell.
:(

Well, cya guys later.

This is great: not only do we have another obstacle to collaboration (and right when our work is coming to absolute fruition, no less!), but the hurricane is going to take pressure off of the the oil companies for the gas prices! By the time the justified gas hikes have subsided, people will have already "adjusted" to the current robbery! Which means, Congress won't investigate and get to the bottom of the mess... before the prices begin climbing AGAIN.

I wondered if you were down that way. Well, be careful and good luck. It looks pretty bad down there.

Oh my god. They are using words like "resilient" and "the end". Those are prelude words to depression....

Never have I seen words like those used in a modern U.S. economic text.

The situation is exacerbated by the deployment of National Guard troops in Iraq. America does not have the resources at her disposal to defend herself from nature, let alone terrorists.

UPDATE:
Crazed. The nation appears to be open to foreign attack:
CNN wrote:

FEMA issued a list of organizations for those seeking to assist victims. (How to help)

The USS Shreveport -- one of four Navy ships scheduled to bring food, soap and medical supplies to the region -- departed port Wednesday from Norfolk, Virginia.

The USS Iwo Jima, Tortuga and the USNS Arctic also are expected to arrive on the Gulf Coast in about five days.

The Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort will depart from Baltimore, Maryland, to reach the region in about a week.

Already helping recovery off Louisiana is the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan, whose helicopters have been flying relief missions. The ship can produce large quantities of fresh water and also has a floating hospital with 600 beds.

More than 125,000 National Guard troops have been activated in 19 states and the District of Columbia to help local agencies with traffic control, security, food distribution and search and rescue efforts, a Guard spokesman said.

Dude. First off, if you're less than 50, it doesn't matter if you have seen them. You're too young to have the necessary experience.

Second, no one can defend themselves from nature. Nature is a lot bigger than we are.

Third, terrorists? Seriously, man. What are you talking about? There are a million ways I could come at that, but I'm going to assume you don't believe it, and you're just trying to prove a point.

Well people of your type who have experience are proclaiming the city to be in anarchy. Domestic terrorism is occuring, at least. Gah, a sniper! At the very least, this should quieten the anarchists.

A good portent: some are considering this situation equivalent to 9/11. Perhaps we'll see less rediculous focus on the "war on terror" in light of what nature can do.

I've heard this thing had 175mph at one point. I've never heard of a hurricane being that powerful ever. The borderline to class 5 is ~145, right? So this should be a class 6.

CNN wrote:

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff denied reports that rescue efforts in New Orleans had been halted for security reasons Thursday, saying those operations "are continuing in full force."

"We are going to continue to increase the tempo of that program until we've cleared people out of the Superdome and we've cleared people out of New Orleans," he said

Incredible. The administration is imploding before our eyes. If this doesn't destroy public trust in it, nothing will. Deliberate misinformation, when the people on the scene say specifically that the rescue has been halted. Sounds like Iraq to me.

While it is relatively disreputable to reference transcriptions of a television news show --- the preference, I am given to understand, would be for the more historic newspaper --- it would be nice to give a link to support the utterly out-of-context quotes that you are posting here. You know: to give a credible basis for your naive, madman rantings.

Of course, actually giving the (correct) sources would probably undermine you position, so...

Eh, at this point the nation is in such convulsions that it's a wonder Taiwan still exists. If there was ever any time for America's enemies to strike, it's now.

Later there will probably be a lot of hubbub in international circles questioning why America's enemies didn't take advantage of this sadistically "golden" opportunity. :P

So overwhelmed is the National Guard that several Army regiments have been called up. If Mexico were to invade today, this nation would fall. Hell, if Al Qaeda were to attack there would be a martial law declaration.

Hell, if the Militia movement were still popular, the government would probably fail in at least a state or two.

Another Update:

I have headed down to Katy Texas, and am living here with my cousin.

I'm attempting to land a job at GameStop and BestBuy right now.

If all goes well, I'll be able to get a car sometime in the next 3-4 months...hopefully.
ttyl.
