Adam and I got talking in #indie-rpg about the idea of running a rpg in the chatroom.

By that I mean... playing a pen and paper rpg using the chatroom to communicate. For starters maybe just do something short and fun on a random day to see how it goes.

Would anyone be interested in taking part? Or even DMing it? The goal being to have some fun and meet other rpgdxers.

(Final Note: Pants will be optional for players, not characters.)

Sounds like it could be fairly amusing. I say give it a go.

Nice idea... would it be too difficult to add avatar pics?

The IRC protocol doesn't support images.

I ran an AD&D game on IRC for a good 3 years. It was great, but getting people to show up at the right time was hard because of timezone issues. It's great fun, unless pants get involved... :x

I just wrote a perl script for xchat to add a dice to #indie-rpg

so if you are in the channel you can type:

!roll xdn - where X is the number of die and N is the number of sides they each have.

In terms of a gaming system... came across a free gaming system based on final fantasy that could be interesting to try out. http://www.returnergames.com/ Not really sure how robust their system is.. but who knows?

I rolled up an example character with Adam. Perhaps we could use it a template for the character sheets.

Having never played a P&P rpg or have any idea how one is played... I'd love to give it a lash
