several years ago (about 7) I had a dream of making the first FPS MMORPG out there.
Now, granted, I couldn't program a thing, or even knew what programming was for that matter, i still wanted to do it.
that's what caused me to start programming. I've always wanted to make games, and know how they were created. I started programming about 2 years ago in hopes of accomplishing this feat.
Now, however, realizing that I'm still years off, am uber pissed that something has already come out.
Take a look at
"project-offset"
I don't know. It just kind of makes me lose hope when I see things like this. I mean, look at the graphics. Download the trailor. It's freaken amazing.
Too bad i wasn't born 20 years earlier :P
Damnit,
Jason

Eh, that happens all the time. My project's name has been used by another company; it's not going to stop me from going through with it though.
Nothing's original. Ever. Get that concept out of your head, because originality is long-dead. ;)
Just do what you want to do. If it's good, others will enjoy it. Really, why should it matter wether you're being original? So you won't be making the first MMOFPS, big whoop. If you can make a good one, then who cares who did it first? Your goal should be to design a good game, not solely to innovate. Though innovating could lead to a good game, a good game doesn't necessarily need to innovate. _________________ Endless Saga

The name of my current project has already been used by an old screensaver for who-knows-how-many years.
Don't get too down. AFAIK, Linus Torvalds created Linux with the aim of making a graphical OS based on a Unix backend. It was only afterwards that he found out about FreeBSD, an OS which did just that. He didn't stop development.
Why should you?
