Just a tip, necromancy (as it's called) is discouraged on most forums, not just this one.

Hey, what's with all the aggression? It's an easy mistake to make.
[edit: as is spelling aggression with one g :) Sorry.] _________________ http://www.distractionware.com

Agreed! And besides, this is a good thread for permanent discussion anyways, so people, lighten up! :) _________________ If you play a Microsoft CD backwards you can hear demonic voices. The scary part is that if you play it forwards it installs Windows. - wallace

Was just sayin', is all.
I don't think anybody's being aggressive at all, but I guess with only context to guide you, one could twist the tone negatively.

What part of my post was agressive, pray tell? All I did was point out that this particular thread (jumping though it now is) went through seven months of inactivity. _________________ "...LeoDraco is a pompus git..." -- Mandrake

Where have I been anything but nice, in this thread? Neither of my previous comments were aggressive, nor were they even mean-spirited.
My first comment was not intended to suggest that I think this thread should remain dead; quite the contrary is the fact. My comment was only pointing out fact. If in making the second comment, or, as it mayhap, in making this third comment explaining both of the previous comments, I come off as "playing the nice guy needlessly," then, ah, would a "Fuck you!" do to liven things a bit?
(On a totally tangential note (which is, by the bye, not to be construed as "aggressive" nor "mean-spirited"): RuneLancer, is that "Q" intentional, or is it a typo? I've never seen "WTF" --- if that be what it be --- written that way; if it was intentional, where abouts is it used, and what does the "Q" stand for?) _________________ "...LeoDraco is a pompus git..." -- Mandrake

Oi, Leo, the "nice guy" remark was aimed at Echo for trying to take control of a situation that only existed in his own head. ;)
For the sake of those of us who aren't too clear on what's aggressive and what's not, the above was, in fact, slightly aggressive towards Echo, but otherwise posted in a joking off-hand fashion towards the rest of the board. This explanatory paragraph is generally off-handed and non-serious as well, but perhaps slightly mocking, which, I suppose, makes it a bit rude. But hey, we're all grown men here, aren't we? We can certainly take a few angry replies on the internet, of all places, now, can't we? That's right.
Edit: QFT = Quoted For Truth. Never seen that...? Then again, the sorry state of acronyms on the interweb gets worse everyday so I can't say I blame you. Back in the old days we only had a few in common use (lol, wtf, asl, stfu, rofl, lmao, and such.) Now we could pretty much talk in acronyms.
"lol wtf? gth!"
"k, cul8r!"
Edit 2: Oh crap... totally didn't notice that was a typo. Yeah, I DID mean QFT and not QTF. _________________ Endless Saga

Hah! Jesus, I'm a fucking git. (My, how that can be taken out of context.) My apologies, RuneLancer.
About the acronym thing: I generally try to avoid acronyms for the same reason I try to avoid smilies: they feel, for the most part, like a cheapening of the language. (I sincerely shudder at the prospect of the day when "LOL" joins other once-were acronyms --- such as "LASER" and "RADAR" --- in the hallowed halls of common English nouns.) However, that is, mostly, irrelevant to this discussion. In any case, "QFT" seems familiar; on the other hand, "QTF" did not, hence the confusion, both on your quote, and upon the question following it. _________________ "...LeoDraco is a pompus git..." -- Mandrake

I have never heard of half the acronyms RL just listed. And I didn't take offense at your posts. The 'jeez' was aimed at myself for not noticing. But I have a question for Leo; is that, perchance, Bill the Cat from Bloom County on your avatar?

Bill the Cat was, indeed, the basis for the avatar, although, if you were to compare the two to each other, there would be a large degree of dissimilitude between them. I used to run an older image as my avatar, before image constraints were placed around here. I later drew something up in the GIMP which formed the basis for the current version. I also have a higher resolution copy of the current avatar.
So yeah: the cat design is based on Bill the Cat, but I have taken some liberties (small, though they may be) with him. _________________ "...LeoDraco is a pompus git..." -- Mandrake

Uhhh... yeah... he was. I HEART FF. Except, if we're talking about cliche storylines on this forum, that's one of them... I don't know if Star Wars was the first, but too many games/movies/books have drawn off the whole "Luke I am your father" thing. They even made fun of it in Nintendo Power... Or was it the SSBM player's guide? I dunno... Here it is:
Quote: |
Item: Light Sword
Type: Bludgeoning
Description: Pick it up, and when you swing it it says "Luke I am your second cousin on your mother's side from Cleveland..."
|
Golbez was just one of many game characters to have some relation to the main character... Like in the original Fire Emblem (not currently available in America), in Chapter One, Marth (my favorite character) allied himself with this one guy whose name I can't recall to reclaim his kingdom... Chapter Two, the guy went crazy and conquered Marth's kingdom... I'm not sure, but I think they were half-brothers or something. And as long as I'm talking about FE, does anyone know which game Roy is from? Can't find him ANYWHERE. _________________ "Sometimes it is better to light a flamethrower than to curse the darkness."
