Ack! NeHe is horrible! The articles overly complicate matters, hardly discuss anything useful, and showcase nothing but poor design and planning. The Red Book is a much better language resource.

Each to their own - personally I found NeHe a very good starting point with tutorials covering things I wanted to do and (with a bit of reorganisation) some really quite useful code. On the other hand I looked at and tried GLUT and really disliked it ... go figure.

I would have to agree about NeHe...iut's not everything it's cracked up to be. Some techniques work for some, and not for others, and in this case, they don't work for LeoDraco...NeHe's tutorials certainly didn't work for me either.

I don't think he double posts, he replies to morons and those morons posts get deleted so it seems that he's double posting because the deleted posts are missing.

I'm reading OPENGL GAME PROGRAMMING so that I'll be able to do graphics and finally have a screenshot to post here. It'll be while before I reach billboarding though.

You should include the "http://" in your website link though, or it won't work.

Ah, well. That website is crap anyway. There's really not much on there pertaining to Mysilin.

Well, I'm slowly making progress through my self-taught OpenGL course. It'll be a while before I reach the billboarding section though.

BUT I CAN MAKE A FUNCTIONING OPENGL WINDOW 9 TIMES OUT OF 10 NOW! YAY!

:P

Isn't making a window more GLUT or FLTK or whatever lib you're using? OpenGL is the 3D stuff...

Yeah, it should be. Granted, you have to instruct the library with the setup information, but that should be fairly trivial.

Course, he could be creating the window manually; NeHe is big on doing low-level Windows API crap.
