          | There is way too little gamemaking talk around here. I got a very strong urge to do a minirpg alá qbstyle (tile*pixel) yesterday but was too tired to acually do anything. Let's see if I do anything about this. Yet, I have a lot of other things on my hands like, the tales of Sophy II Torsin III, the presaphia project and Mick Turate. Anybody else doing something?

          | Actually, I'm still working on my contest entry from Lilith's Enticement - I'd post more about it here, but I'm already posting about it on my website and I figure anyone who's actually interested can just read about it there, heh.

I'm also looking to do a little mini project, like yourself - requires learning flash, which seems to be easy enough. Here's what I've got so far!

          | I'm preparing to work on the long-lost sequel to Nadierian Chaos; The Brekain Crisis.
My plans are to use C++ and Allegro for this one.
Lots of tech-demo tests are in the works to try out ideas before they go in the game itself.

If I had someone else on the project with me, it might go faster........seems my team abandoned me.......again. :\

No screenshots are available at this time, but I'll certainly post a blurb about it once theres something to see.

Well, I'm looking forward to hearing more about it - What kinda ideas do you have for the game? All I remember about the original is that it was a shooter that focused on avoiding things...

I'm still going to stick with vector-based graphics (except for the background imagery, which I hope to have done in maya.

The first level will have no weapons at all (as Nadierian Chaos was), but instead of a single screen that you must doge things, there will be a side scrolling environment that will send waves of fighters at you.
Once you reach the end of the first sector (level), you will encounter another ship that you will "dock" with, and gain upgrades from a very enthusiastic mechanic, that you will later find to be your brother...(no more spoilers for now, sorry)

So, you will get weapons finally, and will be able to defend yourself.
There will be powerups in the form of purchases (like Raptor).

I hope to have audio, but I'll need serious help with that dept.

I plan to have 3 modes of gameplay, side scrolling, vertical scrolling, and a single-screen mode for boss battles (interesting ideas for this one..but don't want to divulge them publicly yet)

          | oh and, if anyone wants to purchase Nadierian Chaos, then email me, and I can send a link for the paypal purchase screen. Once payment is made, the game is downloadable.

          | I have been thinking about finishing from the depths. I have some trouble deciding if I want to continue on the random battle track (as I sidestepped into when the time started to run out for me) or if I want to make it action based as I planned from the very beginning. | Quote: | | Actually, I'm still working on my contest entry from Lilith's Enticement |

 @DevX
Hm, have you any screenshots on Nadierian Chaos or/and some general info about it? Any knowledge about the game seems to have slipped my mind totally.

Hmm, possibly, but you're gonna have to come up with a better sales pitch than that :)

Do you have any screenshots? All I really know about the game is your description on rpg-dev...

No, I have no screenshots :/. Never got that far that I thought it worthwhile showing it off. Basically, the only thing I had done for it was a car, a tree and a stone. Basically.

What sort of sound/music were you thinking, out of curiosity?

 Sounds:

 player laser fire
 player missile launch
 player missile explosion
 engine thruster
 enemy laser
 enemy ship explosion
 enemy mine explosion
 menu beep
 cargo-bay door open/shut
sci-fi female robotic voice saying "warning, incoming fighters"

 Music:
10 different background music tracks, in an exciting pulse-pounding techno-trance type thing...think einhander/thunder force v/etc..

I'll also need help with the programming side of the audio implementation. I've never gotten anything usable out of the available libraries..but I know some of you have, so..perhaps a little guidance/help/collaboration?

I've been following the development through the distractionware RSS feed.

Yeah. I've been working on my game when I get the chance. Working more on graphics/story etc. then coding right right now, but lately I was working on the GUI as well as the items/weapon/armor system. There's also a few more things in the scrolling engine I need to work out.
