Hi Guys,
It wud be really great if the homepage was updated.. It still says that the Enticement contest is running.

No pressure on the admins.. But I think this is a great site. I mite have got hooked onto this space a bit late.

Andy

You mean the frontpage? Well, there isn't exactly much news to write about at the moment :/.

The main page gets updated whenever someone has some news to post. I'll be posting some news once I finish Nadierian Chaos 2007 though.
RPGDX is a great place, too bad its not as active as it used to be. Almost everyone has alot of other obligations these days. :(

Bjorn doesn't hang around here as often as he used to - he probably just forgot to update for the results. Though you don't need to be an admin or moderator to post news - anyone can do it.

Glad you're liking this community :) This place used to be my homepage - it's a real shame it's so quiet these days...

We should do something to live it up a bit.

I couldn't agree more.

I'd say a community project ... but I guess that idea would get shot down.

But whatever; I'll throw it out there anyway:

Its my original idea that started in 2002;

several modules that are linked by datafiles.

For instance a world-exploring engine would need the datafiles for the party, and the world-maps and events.

The INN, BATTLE, SHOP modules could modify the party datafiles.

anyway, yeah this was my old idea that I came up with when I started CCPS Solutions in 2002. known as CCPS FFA RPG PROJECT
The Free-For-All Role-Playing-Game Project
a totally FREE rpg that could be added onto by anyone, and all they would need were the formats of the datafiles. All modules could be written in any language; No dependencies, and the game could even become larger by someone creating a networking module that passed info from each user's datafiles.

...yeah theres my input...

If anyone thinks this is worth trying, let me know and I can setup some stuff like a wiki and an ftp account for files and a forum (unless you want to have the threads here in a new forum category)

Why not make something for the Mana World?

Seems to me we could account for all of DevX's ideas in such a project, and work with Bjorn, too. Secondly, we could approach the project from individual angles that suit our respective talents.

The last time I tried tmw it seemed very unfinished.
Haven't checked it out in awhile (I think pre-katrina) though, so I could be totally out of date on it now...

But, nonetheless I'd be interested in building something that latched onto tmw in some way...wow that sounds viral....but no, I'd never suggest anything malicious. Thats just wrong.

Well a lot happened since Katrina, so you should definitely check out TMW once more. You even wrote a rather flattering review about TMW two years ago. :-) You may want to wait one day though, we plan to release 0.0.23 tomorrow (or very soon after tomorrow). These days most people on the team have less time than ever, so progress is still very slow. There's two fronts on which we could use help:

* C++ programming on new server and client combination (this is where all kinds of new things are possible and can be implemented, but it's also the unstable part without any gameplay).

* Game content development (new tiles, monsters, npcs, maps, items, particle effects, etc.). Most of the developed content, except for server side scripts, will still be compatible with the new server that's being developed.

In case an actual community project gets started here, I think it would be most interesting when the first question would be "how can we make this game more fun?".

About the front page, I know I've neglected to round off that competition with a news post for a long time... I should try to get to it soon, or it might never happen. :-/

Having seen a bit of TMW, i think its good... Guess it can compete with one of the bests soon...

The site needs to be updated... just to get more people involved.. Not many newbies wud check the forums if they see that the front page is not updated.. (i did, hence i am here)

:)
