Ka is also Stephen King's word for fate in the Dark Tower series. _________________ Mark Hall

Huh. Both the Egyptian thing and the Stephen king thing are interesting, but that's not what I was going for. I was using it as that magic Japanese word that turns any sentence into a question, sorta following on from that question mark thing. Though I don't know very much Japanese, so it's probably wrong :)
Hmm. It's nice to have a nick with positive connotations for once. I might keep it. Echo had all sorts of negative ones. _________________ http://www.distractionware.com

On the note of Japanese - a singular particle makes no sense and would most often be mistaken for another word. If I approach your name with my Japanese brain turned on, I see "mosquito."

Yes, like that :)

Ah. So much for that then. _________________ http://www.distractionware.com

This probably comes a little late to pertain to the current discussion, but I generally get my usernames from book series that I like (except this one; Maestro is a name I took from my D&D character, like Ninkazu).
Usernames I have used:
- Captain Vimes: the greatest Discworld character.
- Unbeliever (my most commonly-used one): from The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever.
- Faust VIII: The greatest villain of all time. From Shaman King (yes, I am a geek.).
- Maestro134: I wanted to go with Maestro back when I played RuneScape, but it was taken, and Maestro134 sounded better than Maestro133. _________________ "Sometimes it is better to light a flamethrower than to curse the darkness."

I actually go with Adam C. Clifton now whenever I do anything. Much easier to register on forums and the like. Altho it woudl be quite easy for an employer to search me out and find out I made "Poobum 2003". _________________ https://numbatlogic.com

Heh, that's a shame. That's one thing that really sucks about the internet - this is a totally new problem for a new generation. When I started out in QBasic, I just used my real name as a handle, so anybody who searches for that will fill all my newbish humble beginnings. :( Also, the other day someone from work found my site and saw my crotch kicking game :( _________________ http://www.distractionware.com

My boss once wanted a life demo of one of my former games. So all the project team and him gathered in my office to look o.o
But it left a good impression so I'm happy ;)

I too have a habit of using my real name everywhere. Then, when I went to Oracle for a job interview, the guy asked me about The Mana World even though I hadn't included it in my profile. "Google. :-)" he said. He did end up asking me whether I shouldn't rather be applying for a job in the games industry. In most other places where I applied, Tiled and The Mana World were simply part of my CV and the response was positive.
And I've finally decided where I wanted to work. On 3rd of September I will start at Trolltech in Berlin. :-)

Congrats :)
I think employers often see hobby projects positive. It's a mix of showing responsibility, enthusiasm the will to achieve things. What they all want in their employees.
