sorry to hear you're dropping out Terry... any chance you could share what you have with us even if it's not done?

Wouldn't be a good idea - there's a decent enough engine, but right now there's no content. I'd really rather wait a while so I can add a few things before I release any sort of demo :)

I need to go to bed now. Mac only for now I'm afraid, I'll get to other platforms... erm... after I've slept for a while.

Sadly, it's not not quite done. Code is all there, as is nearly all the content, but I didn't have time to plug it all into the engine tonight. Oh well, I'm still pretty pleased. You can sail around, recruit some characters, and fight two battles.

Well, it looks pretty neat :) Looking forward to playing the port, whenever you get around to it!

Thank you DevX :D. Thanks to your wizardry I might be able to trace down the bug.

error allocating memory to hold BMP in image_load_BMP
This means that the game tries to find a bmp without success. It is strange as all bmp's are where they should :/. Besides if the bmp is not found the game should tell you that and not crash. Well, thank you DevX. I shall look into it.

Downloading all entries :D

Windows port. I hope.

I built this with py2exe on a windows vista machine. I believe it will work on other flavours of windows but I have no way to verify. Here's hoping.

If you try it out, let me know if it works or not.

Works perfectly :)

Nice work! It's clear that you had a lot of ideas in place for the game - I like the setting and background and all that.

Glad I could help.
I'm currently trying to decipher the disassembly to try to recreate the source to a point that I can locate the problem.

yknow...I could help you a lot more if you would email me the source. You have my word that it will not be disclosed to anyone.

send it to ccpsceo@gmail.com if you would like some help debugging it.

Thanks guys! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, even if there isn't much to do in it yet. I'm going to expand it a bit post-contest I think.

Hey Scrim, I really thought that your game was pretty cool.
You had a lot of game mechanics in place.
I like the advancement system.

I think that with some better art and a little more to do, you would have a nice game on your hands.

Hmm. Are you running it on windows?

Also, what do you mean by "mostly don't feel like moving"? Sometimes you press the button and nothing happens but other times you press the button and the guy moves? Peculiar.

The character changes direction when I press any of the WASD buttons but he doesn't move. And now that I tested it again the character somehow ended up in the ocean at the start yet I managed to enter both house's and the boat :S

We should probably rap this up officially :)

Mattias and Scrim, I think it's fair to say that you two have the only eligible entries (given that the theme of the contest is completion and nobody else submitted more than a walkabout engine). Congratulations! You've both put together pretty neat games!

By the rules of the contest only people who enter get a vote. But I don't think it would really be fair to ask just the two of you to vote :P So I think a joint first place is in order!

Congratulations!

If you don't agree with that, then we'll settle it some other way, heh.

LOL @ the screenshot, BMB. Walking on water: it's not a bug, it's a feature!

Seriously though, I'm a little perplexed as to why that's happening. I've got a new version in the works that changes some of the code underlying the walkabout; once that's done maybe you can give it a try again and let me know what happens? I appreciate your help.

Terry: Your proposal sounds good to me and my artist. Congratulations Mattias on our tie for first. Will there be trophies? =)
