Somehow I just knew that this thread would turn into a rant about licenses. Heh. Just stop it already.
We chose the GPL license because we do not want our code to be dropped into a closed source project and be called the IP of someone else.
The source was released for the purpose of letting some gurus port it to linux, or whatever as that task was beyond our skills.
If someone wants to use it to learn how we implemented something, then great.
If someone wants to make a game from it, then theirs needs to be GPLd as well. I like that, because then I can in turn look at what they changed, and learn from that. I believe that it is a good choice, and if you don't, then please keep it to yourself. If you want to comment on the code itself, by all means do so.
If you want to nitpick my source to death, fine.
If you want to bitch about the decision to use GPL then do not. _________________ Principal Software Architect

Me too!
But it's not like that takes away from the gesture of GPLing your stuff. Good on you, DevX. _________________ http://www.distractionware.com

After much effort I have re-released the source.
This time it WILL build on Visual C++ 2008 Express.
Included are the Solution, Project and new source files for the WiTCHHUNT game/engine project.
Get it here. _________________ Principal Software Architect

But still GPL.. ;-) |
I'll be releasing the source to WiTCHHUNTX with the GPL.
WiTCHHUNTX is, if you are unaware, the cross-platform total-rewrite of the WiTCHHUNT game, this time using a bitmapped-font and menu-based combat (no more typing in actions)
Rafael and I are still working out the details of this project, but we are separating the game content from the engine this time, and the engine will be released as PD, and the game content is under copyright. _________________ Principal Software Architect
