I have been developing a windows-console ASCII game engine/library the past 2 weeks, and I just had the urge to test it out by "porting" DarkDread's QBASIC RPG tutorial #2 (the first one that has code in it heh) to it.
Here is a screenshot of it running.
The "graphics" are all 100% ASCII namely CHR 219 colored.

I am going to try to finish making it work a little better, adding a scrolling 'window' so that the whole map can be seen, and fix up the player's movement to use multiple directions, because right now the player always faces the user.

The graphics are not the ones from DarkDread's tutorial, but that was a secondary decision. I didn't save the ones I made that were the same as DD's. :P oops. afterthoughts can be dangerous.

So.. what you think?

thanks guys :) its your comments that are driving me to continue this project.

I wasn't sure how others would react to it, so I was actually thinking of dropping the idea...but now I see that its turned a few heads, so I'm going to work harder to make it better. :)
