Just thought that I'd bring this up...

I checked the validation and it fails.

You're specifying
Code:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">

When I think you meant to use an XHTML spec.
Since there are XHTML-style /> closures all over the place.

I don't think Bjørn reads the forums anymore... I haven't seen him around in a long time.

He comes and he goes, swiftly like an assassin in the night.

The original template was probably XHTML; Bjørn likely made it HTML 4.01 for specific reasons.

and that makes no sense since the HTML spec blows chunks compared to XHTML.

I emailed him and got a reply.

However, I'm sure that when you change that to XHTML, you'll find
plenty of XHTML error instead. :-)

In the end, I don't think it really matters, and definitely don't have
time to go over our forum templates to fix these issues. The whole
thing should be upgraded to phpBB3 anyway, but well, that's a major
effort.

Regards,
Bjørn

It's personal choice. Some of us can't stand XHTML and its idiosyncrasies.
