Download A Death Foreordained

A Death Foreordained is my Lofi entry. It ended up being a little more arcadey and less RPGish than I anticipated, but I am comfortable with how it turned out. The storyline it follows is slightly based off of a Philip K. Dick short story. I really had a great time getting this done, and will definitely be sticking around these forums from now on. Thanks goes to Moth, who helped test and provided one line of code and a sound effect, lol.[/url]

Finally got around to checking this out - good to see the story as the focus of your RPG, that's usually a good sign!

I thought it was pretty interesting, and liked where it seemed to be going - unfortunately after a while I got stuck on a narrow corridor and couldn't progress anymore, so I quit there...

Interesting that you can shoot everyone in the game - is there eventually a consequence to that?

the collision is a bit weird; I think you should try the approach of, if you have to move right one pixel and up one pixel, to break this into two moves: try to move right one pixel, then try to move up. that should smooth things a bit.

story was nice. gameplay was good.

character movement seemed a little slow (to the extent that I'm going to wait a while before replaying to see what happens)

The first thing I did was shoot the NPCs. Awesome!! Sadly, I have no idea what the story is now that I've killed them all.

I unfortunately killed mostly everything that was killable in my playthrough :D (wonder if that has any effect on the story?).
I must say that the game was hard but my companions was some most excellent cannonfodder.

Comments:
  • Gameplay is harsh but playable.
  • The path-finding is a nice touch.
  • The story isn't bad for a mini-game. However...
  • Making Errico unkillable in the climax scene is cheap, especially given how the game ends when you don't kill him. There should be an alternate ending.

I just fixed every major issue mentioned here. Movement has been fixed, which solves the getting stuck bug. Also, the ability to kill people has been reduced to civilians only, as it seems I didn't think everyone would be so trigger happy, lol. This makes the story a lot more coherent, for those who just like to shoot things. If you played the game before, and didn't get al lthe way through, I strongly suggest you play it again with these changes.

Hehe...you just aren't looking close enough. There are two endings to the game, I promise.

I REALLY liked this one, the story was pretty good and I was really involved despite the ultra minimal graphics, I even cared about my teammates. very cool indeed :D
