PostPosted: Tue May 05, 2009 6:59 am    Post subject: Legends - Demo Movie Now Available [quote]

As part of the recent work being done on Legends from the Lost Realms I've put together a little demo video ... still more of a technical demo rather than examples of gameplay (simply because making a video of any first person gameplay of any game results in bumpy camera movement).

The video is available on the Legends Website in the gallery section.

Anyway, all feedback on the video would be appreciated and hope you like it!

Jon.

I'd say quicktime should be considered pretty much standard these days :D maybe it's your choice of browser/OS which blows? ;)

@jon: Demo looks sweet, I like the buildings clinging to the side of the hills, and the heavy fog effect in the distance. I think some scenes would benefit from some ground-fog too.

My system should be able to play MP4's but somehow not inside my browser ... a pity.

Anyways, this is the first time I really watched the gallery, and I must say the images there are amazing! Particularly for a one-man-team, these are great results. Congrats :)

..and for the love of all that is holy... STOP USING SPACES IN FILENAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I swear I'm sick and tired of all the people who use a fucking space in a filename!! >_<

..aside from my ranting... your game is looking pretty nice there man. keep up the great work!

I couldn't play the video either (or install the plugin for some reason), but the screenshots look excellent. Very atmospheric :)

DevX: One day, I'm gonna release a game with a title that is all spaces. The final boss will be an underscore.

For those who have had problems with the video not playing it is also available on You Tube

And sorry for the problems - I'm trying to tidy up the website a bit and will add a link to the MP4 files (so you can save as ...)

Having seem the same rant a few days back I am trying to give up the habit ... but it's like smoking ... once you start it is difficult to stop! And if that is bad them I am never ever going to let you see the code ... no spaces there but instead of function names such as GetInventoryItem I prefer get_inventory_item ... only using '_' because C++ can't handle spaces ;)

Played fine for me =)

Your game is looking pretty nice in that video - I like misty look of the world and the architecture of the buildings and towns a lot. Kudos.

There's a programming language where you just program in spaces. I think it was called Whitespace.

Anyways, played fine for me. Nice video!

I had to open the movie in a new tab, then it worked.

I'm liking the look of the village :P

Glad you like it. As for Legends looking like Morrowind well this isn't really a surprise as I'm a huge fan of Morrowind (and to a lesser extent Oblivion). The problem has been avoiding having a look too close to Morrowind - it's very easy to create models for Legends that are conciously or subconciously very similar to those in Morrowind (or even worse use Morrowind models as place holders) - I've actually had to scrap a few models and start again when things got too close.
