Prostitution has been a staple of these games since Princess Maker. It's also unrealistic to leave it out. They should at least have offered a patch.

Played Parhedros. Interesting game, but very difficult to get into. Would be nice to have a strategy guide, particularly for use with the NPCs.

Ahh, I'm so addicted to desktop dungeons :D

Just started playing a new RPG that was released recently, so I thought I'd tell you lot about it: Banov's pirate themed RPG, Dubloon. It's been in the works for over a year and its apparently huge, and quite good too from what I've played so far. I get a big earthbound vibe off it.

I've also had this rather interesting looking RPG sitting on my desktop recently, but haven't gotten around to trying it out yet. This thread on tigsource describes it as "Dungeon Keeper meets Saw/Hostel". It's called "Beautiful Escape: Dungeoneer".

Capitalism ho!

So this is a demo of a game called Recettear, a Japanese indie RPG that is in the process of getting a full translation and should be released soon. It's absolutely ace - I was hooked instantly; I played it for hours earlier and couldn't put it down.

The basic concept is that you run an item shop in a town for adventures. People come along wanting to buy things and you haggle with them. It's better than it might sound.

Here's a write up on Rock Paper Shotgun.

Heh - I saw that the other day. It does look like fun. Not sure if it's an RPG, but it looks like something I'd enjoy playing.

Hmm, not sure about that; I have a very loose definition of RPG anyway. It's actually kinda like Princess Maker, in a way, if it was focused on just one job.

(I finally got around to playing Beautiful Escape today too - it is really good, but totally fucked up)
