Maybe that's it then...I was probably expecting more atmospheric stuff and the lack of it makes it seem rather lacking. I've listened to the whole album quite a few times now and find that it does grow on you after awhile.
You can't ever please everyone. I think that the important thing is that you are satisfied with the work. If you like it, others will too. Of course, someone always likes something...case in point: there are people who actually like K-Fed. :D
Well hell, I like it. That's all that matters! hehehe :) _________________ If you play a Microsoft CD backwards you can hear demonic voices. The scary part is that if you play it forwards it installs Windows. - wallace

Yup! If I spent too much time stressing out over what people didn't like and trying to change everything to fit everyone's preferences... well, I probably wouldn't get anywhere or just end up releasing the ultimate mediocre album. I take comfort in the fact that I'm a perfectionist regarding my creative vision so regardless of other factors, I'm always pretty happy with the work I put out... and a decent amount of people generally seem to like it too. Works for me. :)

OK I've listened to this album like 50 times now...been playing nothing but this in XMMS on repeat for the past 2 days now. Awesome music to listen to while working on MSR. :) One track that has really started to stand out is Rodent Wings...this has most certainly become my favorite of the more relaxed tracks on the album, and I think it's a great showing of how good your singing voice really is. I think I actually like it better than Hollow Pages...never thought I'd ever say that. :) _________________ If you play a Microsoft CD backwards you can hear demonic voices. Wow, great to hear the album has such staying power, hehe! Yeah, Rodent Wings is a favorite of mine as well. It's awesome to hear the comment on my singing voice; I've worked really hard over the past couple years to develop it and am continuing to do so... I'm glad it's paid off, considering I couldn't sing at all in 2007 when I recorded the second Swimfail album. Always wanted to sing though so I'm glad it ended up this way :)
Thanks for the comments and listens, I'm glad it works so well as coding music! ;)

I just realized something...Dawn would make an excellent RPG track! _________________ If you play a Microsoft CD backwards you can hear demonic voices. The scary part is that if you play it forwards it installs Windows. - wallace

Way ahead of ya there, hehe. ;) The big RPG project I'm currently attached to has a few tracks in that style. Soundtrack's about an hour and a half long (keeper tracks) so far and it mixes it up quite a bit :)

EDIT: That does make me wonder about an RPG soundtrack done entirely with acoustic guitars, though. Could be neat... battle themes done in flamenco styles, etc. :p
