Thanks :-)
@coyote: yeah, it's great when you can have projects feed and feed off each other - it's a win for both :-) The transitions could probably do with a bit more work - for turning or moving sideways, I more or less just scroll in the new screen, and for forward/back I just do a quick fade (though I'll try a zoom too at some point, might look better). In any case, I think I'll include an option to turn it off, so the player can have the choice...
@verious: Yeah, it does look a bit strange when you stand in the same cell as a table - I'm thinking I'm probably better off blocking cells with large props in them...

I got a great idea on another forum: every time the player moves or turns, you mirror the floor/ceiling tiles, to get a sense of movement. Really simple idea, but I didn't think of it myself :-)

Yeah, well, I use 8-bit graphics, and store everything RLE-packed so I guess that makes storage a bit more efficient. I also have all the data files in one big package, which further reduces the size a little, as compression gets a bit more efficient. All in all, the demo has 1124 separate bitmaps, at a total size of 16.7 MB uncompressed (which is also the memory they take up while running the demo). _________________ www.mattiasgustavsson.com - My blog

The graphics are stunning. Gotta respect the detail this technique produces.
