Yeah that's true, especially considering my new engine is ready for a new game. :P

I made a thread here for Kontest ideas but it didn't really get anywhere.

I'd be up for it, but there's SO much going on right now game dev + jam wise - TIGSource are running their first contest in ages, and ludum dare is a few weeks after that.

I've got most of an engine ready, so I'd be up for a contest!

Sounds like several of us are interested, so what do we need to do to get this thing going?

I guess pick a date, pick a theme, pick a timeframe, and start telling people about it :)

A one week challenge in August sometime would suit me best, personally, but I'll try to do it whenever it takes place.

How's this?

Name: "August Beat the Freakin' Heat Challenge."
Dates: August 1-7
Theme: "Heat as an antagonist."

How about we compile a list of themes and have a vote?

Haha, wow, looks like there's another contest we'll need to avoid clashing with now. How about we set the date for July 10th-17th, 2020?

I've had a list of suggested topics here for ages.

http://forums.rpgdx.net/viewtopic.php?p=27483#27483

Quote:
Community Ideas so far:
-----------------------
1. Growing/Rebirth theme for Spring.
2. Open characters for the storylines? (like Jenny Everywhere?)
3. Alternate Histories - Like Resistance Fall of Man
4. Cast of Personified Characters (Pesonification)
5. Character Template Pool. (Kinda goes along with 2)
6. Survival RPG (No Leveling, Limited Resources)
7. Complete a next chapter in an exisiting Contest Entry.
8. Make an RPG about Beating this summer heat, or where the heat is the main antagonist/problem to overcome.

So go ahead and rock the vote.

Yeah, I'm up for an August 1-7 contest.

Alernate Histories sounds like a juicy idea. I also like the Survival RPG idea.

Imagine this - an RPG where you're a soldier who has to survive with limited resources in the Kuwait desert during the first gulf war, when a sudden massive spike in solar activity increases heat to deadly levels, forcing the US to withdraw before Operation Desert Storm can be completed. Along the way you find a village populated entirely by open characters (like Jenny Everywhere), and have to lead them to safety.

That's most of the ideas in one :)
