The Hideout has released a public demo for the first 1/4 of the action RPG Rijn the Specpyre in... Manor of the Damned!

You play a destitute wandering vampyre who agrees to help a rid a village of a raiding specpyre family.

The demo features about an hour of gameplay, multiple weapons, destructible environments, retro inspired sound effects and graphics, an industrial music sound track, and vampyres that turn into spectres and feed on souls!

Demo is for Windows only, but a Linux version is in testing.

Cool looking demo! I really like darker, gothic, horror type games. I'm looking forward to trying this one out. I like the art style it's nice and gritty as well.

It looks like it'll be quite a ride to get through the mansion. XD

Loved Griffon Legend... this looks like more memorable game play.

This looks nothing like TGL... this is way cleaner. I couldn't even play TGL because it too busy-looking... it was like detail for the sake of detail. This looks way better.

Quick update. The game compiles natively on Mac and Linux now. We're having some problems with the multi-threaded music loading, but for the most part, everything is going really well. The third zone is about half done and the game is still on schedule for submission to IGF by Monday.

Also, we have a new website: http://www.TheHideoutGames.com

Cheers!

Woot! Congrats. I submitted mine to the IGF, too. Don't think I have much chance of winning, but something just wouldn't let me sit on the sidelines and *NOT* compete.

Good job, and good luck!

the final stretch has begun. i'm going to try to have a full official version finished in the next 48 hours. so far today i've just finished spriting the last two regular enemies and i still have the last 2 bosses to finish animating. i also need to finish the puzzles in the final area and figure out how to animate the opening and ending. then all that's left is testing!

Hey everyone, just thought I'd let you know that Rijn the Specpyre in... Manor of the Damned! has been released!

http://www.desura.com/games/manor-of-the-damned

Right now we have the full and demo versions available for Windows on Desura. The Linux version is pending approval and should be downloadable at any time.

This game has been a great project to work on and I'm fully planning on continuing to support it. Please give it a try and let me know what you think. All comments and criticism are welcome.

Hello everyone,

We have now released Manor of the Damned on all major PC platforms! We are currently working to improve some parts of the game that players have spoken out about the most. We're adding more music, making the bosses more difficult, adding new game +, and some more length and variety, especially in the final area.

We've received so much great feedback about how fun people think the game is. There have been a lot of people saying specifically that they love the music and art. We're very happy to be able to present this game for you to enjoy.

Lastly, we were featured on IndieGames.com's Best Indie Games of the week list on March 26th!
