I have a DreamCast and I hate it. Stupid Sega, no longer supporting it. |

I don't have a DreamCast and I hate it. PS2/Xbox/GameCube is better. |

I have no game console, and I probably won't ever get one.

I don't hate it nor love it. I enjoyed consoles when I was a kid, had a NES and a SNES console (the last one I still have). I don't think I'll ever be buying another console though.

the dreamcast was a great console- i'm pissed at sega for ditching it. I know they wanted to go software only and it's a great move looking 10+ years down the road, but they should've stuck with the dreamcast longer.
sounds like you're planning on making a game for it? _________________ Diver Down

Still play DC games on a fairly regular basis -- and it doubles as a fairly decent VCD player (if my DVD player didn't do a better job... heh).
Definitely a console that died several years ahead of schedule :( I've played a LOT of PS2 games that could have easily been powered by the DC's hardware.

right on Sirocco, and a few games ported from the DC to PS2 look worse on the PS2 (because the DC had hardware accel anti-aliasing, so anyone could use it...), anyway, i *might* be working on a side-project of sorts while I'm working on the book. I'm not positive as of right now, since the book comes first and all else comes second.
But what I was thinking about was an RPGMaker of sorts for the DreamCast....something simple, scripted entirely so we could mayhaps use it for contests around here...(but not something retardedly simple, just a base for us to use so we could do maybe a decent game in 48 hours or so)...
and of course, those with CD-Burners could play the games on actual DC hardware....
hrm. Just an idea. But it's on the back burner right now.

I use my DC more than my PS2... 'cept for lately, 'cause I've been playing a lot of Final Fantasy X, heh.
I do have basic knowledge of coding it, using DreamLib, of course... it's not really difficult, not in my opinion. Lot easier than coding for, say, the PCEngine (now THAT's a pain in the ass). It's kinda fun, but honestly, not as fun as I thought it would be. I've considered doing an RPG project for it... but nah... too much effort.
...and yeah, I agree, many PS2 ports of DC games are actually worse... *cough*Grandia 2*cough* _________________ "Goth is a way for ugly people to be interesting."

I still buy and play games for my dreamcast... it was the greatest and i'm not letting it go lightly, heh. I've still got almost every issue of ODM (official dreamcast magazine) lying around in my bedroom to remind me of what could have been...
Anyway, rumour has it that when SEGA ported Sonic Adventure 2 to the Game Cube they had to reduce the framerate because it couldn't handle it! Jesus christ, this console is two years old! I also heard about the Grandia 2 thing, about how they were having trouble with the port to PS2, but i'm not sure about the details.
Oh yeah, and I checked the first box, but have always been interested in programming my DC and using it for emulators and so on... even though i'm a bitch for origional cartridges, heh. I wouldn't mind some links if someone could oblige. _________________ Some may know me as MidnightDreamer... time for a namechange.
