Now that discussion is over, here's a thread for all of you RPG-compo needs. Since pre-made graphics, music, and engines are permitted, it would be cool if people posted links to sites where people can grab what they need. Fist off, the rules, taken from this thread: http://forums.rpgdx.net/viewtopic.php?t=430&start=45 , and posted by bjorn:
When
Start: April 25th 24:00 GMT
End: April 27th 24:00 GMT
Game restrictions
Make anything you want as long as:
- You can finish it in 48 hours
- It is an RPG
Using premade stuff
Basically, you can use any premade stuff (engine, graphics, sound, music) as long as that does not include the story, levels/maps and scripts (for as far as they are not part of the engine).
Critiria
We want to see the game finished, above all, so don't try to take it too far. As for winning, there will be several categories in which you'll be able to win, as in previous compo's.
Participating
I'll try to have compo functionality working on RPGDX at least a week before the compo. Once that works, participating should be like:
1. Create a new project on RPGDX
2. Go to the compo page and subscribe to it with your game
3. When the compo starts, subscriptions will be locked (only admins will be able to change them).
4. Update your project with the right name (if it hasn't already) and write up a short description of the story once you feel like it.
5. Update your project with it's final name, description and a download link before the end of the compo, then leave it.
6. 24 hours after all this has settled down, voting will commence. Any RPGDX member will be able to vote number 1 for each categorie (maybe even number 1, 2 and 3). Implementing this could get tricky though...
7. Appropriate awards will be linked by the admins to the winning projects. I'll make them show up on the project pages.
I might also try to put in some sort of development diaries for projects, in which you can write updates regularly. Otherwise, we'll at least be using our IRC channel

For those who wish to use the Rpg Maker for there project goto
www.dark-dominion.com. It has quite a view rpg maker resources. Your warned though the required Rtp file for Rpg maker is a hefty download indeed, especially for those of us with 56k modems:p _________________ "If you master your box, you master your universe!"- Wise words from some programmer.

Pre-drawing art is perfectly fine. According to the rules, it's fine as long as it's not targetted to a specific story or game. I know this is a bit vague, but basically it means general graphics may be pre-drawn.
Yeah, the #rpgdx channel is often empty. I guess this can change if people just keep hanging out longer. During the contest, however, we would like to see all the stressed out people in there of course. :-) It is not a requirement to hang out on the channel though, because of solidarity with modem users.

Ive been wanting to do a different theme of people, maybe ill have to draw this in the 48 hours, or maybe the purpose isnt suposed to be on the art but the rpg? maybe ill just rip gfx from the net, hmm.

There will be several categories to win in. Like: gameplay, graphics, music, script/story and overall. We expect the participants to be honest on where they've got the resources from or wether they were created before or during the compo. While judging, people should take this into account as an RPG with downloaded graphics shouldn't be winning the graphics category, but rather a game that has nice graphics which have at least been made by the author of the game.
I guess I will write up a special requirement about this, to include a section in your game description that states such things.

Just so I get this right, April 25th 24:00 GMT would be April 25th, 19:00 US Central? I used a time zone converter and just wanted to make sure it was correct. Thanks.

You're right. At least, my venture to the time-zone converter had the same result. :-)
It converts to GMT+1+1 (extra hour for DST) for The Netherlands, so we'll be starting at 2:00, April 26th.
