Oh yes, the wonderful world of Quaternions, SLERP/LEP, Euler Angles, and other such mathematical concepts. I think I'm going to need a couple of headache tablets when I code the MD3 loader :)
As for having a good modeler/skinner nearby. I was kinda hoping that if I get this engine working nicely somebody with a little bit more skill in that area might decide to create the models for me ;) Afterall, you know what they say about programmers creating their own art.
Am I insane for attempting this project? :) _________________ Lovely girls & great prices always available at CLUB 859, 859 Glenhunly Road, Caulfield, Open 10am till late 7 days. +61-3-9523-8555. (Sorry, it was in front of me in the newspaper, I just had to use it as a signature!)

I will try not to disappoint. I think my next step is going to be to implement the world loading code, and then get the actors to walk about inside the world correctly. At present the actors are just walking around at random in 3D space with their little legs permanently stuck at Y=0 on a rather boring looking grid. So that'll be the next step.
I'll probably write a Quake3 BSP loader. I invisige the game world being split into two sorts of areas, the inside and outside world. The inside world will be defined by enclosed areas in which there arent going to be performance issues if the camera points off towards the horizon. In outside areas the camera will probably have to be fixed to a downwards view (with some form of rotation) so that performance doesnt become an issue when the world becomes overly large.
Shrugs. I'll think about it. _________________ Lovely girls & great prices always available at CLUB 859, 859 Glenhunly Road, Caulfield, Open 10am till late 7 days. +61-3-9523-8555. (Sorry, it was in front of me in the newspaper, I just had to use it as a signature!)
