Okay, here's the situation: Girl I'm totally in love with, really beautiful and amazing and perfect and stuff. She's in Quebec now, and I'm in Vancouver. The plan was that she would come over to Vancouver in the beginning of September, but I just had a really neat idea that could be cool. I would fly over to Quebec and then we would both take a scenic bus trip across Canada, stopping at different places along the way, hangin' out with people from our Katimavik group (and of course the idea of travel Motel rooms and the subsequent nocturnal activities therein has not escaped my mind... oooh yeah baby uh huh)

Only problem is, the whole thing would probably set me back about 600 dollars in total (or for our American-speaking friends, 400 dollars)

So, I could sit here on my ass playing video games until she arrives, or spend a whole crapload of money to do something that's really really really romantic and cool with her.

LOVE vs. MONEY
championship round on tonight, only on PAY-PER-VIEW!

That's hardly a problem. Honestly, it sounds like you've already made up your mind, and you're just trying to convince us that it's the right choice.

However, if only to agree with you; (personally) I'd choose to go with the flying out there and taking the bus back. Bold, daring. Quite the risk I'd be willing to take, especially for the potential sentimental memories you'd be making.

Ahem, "Money well spent"?

I agree with happy, just go. It's not a waist of money.

EDIT: I suppose that does mean no 'sorry while I blatantly steal an idea' thread for the next few months/weeks? :(
And no XMark naturally.

Excess money has never made anyone happy. If you have the money, go!

Excess money makes me happy... or at least you don't have to worry about not having enough money once you think of something to spent it on. Within reason of course.

As for XMarks choise, I don't like to be responsible for a bad choise and I feel like I do not know the situation well enough. So I declare my opinion insignificant. This means I could have left out this entire part of my message, but I decided not to because I had already written it when that occured to me. That's it.

Whatever happens, have fun!

heh, I'm gonna let y'all in on a secret: Happy's right. Whenever I ask anyone for advice I just go ahead and do what I would have done anyways, no matter what they say. If that doesn't work out, then the NEXT time a similar situation happens, I follow their advice. :)

Now off to the Westjet reservations page...

Yeah, you sounded really stuck there, like you really needed our advice (snicker). If I were you I'd just make it only the two of you, instead of hanging out with some Katimavic folk, though. It might be more romantic. And bed and breakfasts rock when your travalling across country. Make sure to explore as well....don't take the beaten path. Try and find new and interesting stuff. Spend the money now, while you can, before you have responsibilities, like car payments and rent and the like. I did, and I'll never regret having fun vs having the 2 grand we spent.

Have a blast! Ps- did you get the PM's I sent you?

Yep, I got the PM's, but I don't think I'll be able to act on anything until my life comes into some semblance of a routine again.

I understand- I have enough stuff from you to keep me busy for awhile though. Just making sure the direction it was going in was ok with you. It will probably be at least a month before I need some new music.
