Does anyone know of a way to convert an xm that crashes verge to a more friendly mod or s3m format? This needs to be compatible with the DOS version of verge also so no other sound formats will work. If there's a way to clean up this xm so it's compatible, I'd appreciate the help.

I really want to use a specific song for the game ending. I've kinda been putting it off until now, but now I need it :).

MODplug tracker can do all those formats and convert between them. Though I would suggest S3M over MOD, because you lose a lot of effects translating from XM to MOD.

wow - you know i've looked at modplug before but I never found out how to convert the file format. But yeh, it's pretty straightforward to go from xm to s3m, although the conversion quality sometimes leaves a bit to be desired. Thanks a lot man!

An XM shouldn't crash verge... try playing it in Winamp, they use the same playback engine.

The thing to watch out for with XM's, though, is that MODplug tracker has a bunch of extra features such as VST effects that aren't supported by any other program/player/library outside of MODplug. So if I'm doing straight XM's I stick with FastTracker 2 even though it's a little harder to use.
