This is a concept page for the character 'Valkyrie' for my anime, City Nocturne.

A concept page for the character 'Jareth', also for City Nocturne. (Yes, he is rather drunk at the moment)

And this is my interpetation of how I would look if I ever became a satanic punk rocker. Anime Style. \m/
The pic is kind of big, so it's a link:

I really think the neck of that Valkyrie character is too long.

I'm really curious about how you drew those characters, though. Did you draw them by hand and then scan them, coloring with Photoshop or something similar? If so, how did you get your lines that clear? I'm a total n00b to scanning and PS-coloring...

Yeah, I drew them, scanned them, then coloured them in PS.
I've got my personal STAAAAHL of drawing that makes those lines so clear... Muahaha, My secret method of dooom. Yesh.

About coloring and stuff: This looks nice. Judging from their artwork, these people seem to know what they're talking about.

Vector art is scalable. Unless you can scale those art peices (in their native format) without opening them up in Photoshop and resizing, then they're not vector art. That is to say, if they're a bitmap based image, then they're not vector art.

SVG is God.

But why go through the trouble of "vectorizing" it? The first 2 were obviously drawn by hand, then scanned and streamlined into vector art... then that art was taken and colored in photoshop? Why not just scan it straight into photoshop?

mainly because freehand and/or illustrator automatically clean up your artwork, and you can scan straight into them.

Ahhh...the beauty of vector art...Great if you want to create clean lines...I used a similar technique of combining vector linework with raster coloring for these 2 images:
http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/loth/d/i/dimu/copper_final.jpg.html
http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/loth/d/i/dimu/kodiac_blue.jpg.html

As for 'pure' vector art here a few more links to some examples:
http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/loth/d/i/dimu/creature.jpg.html
http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/loth/d/i/dimu/cloak.jpg.html

And it's great to finally see some of you pixel work frog...not bad, not bad at all...

Sure, go and draw attention away from me, now...
Nah, just kidding- That art of yours looks really great.
And I wouldn't say the pixel peices I posted here are my best- Far from it- In fact I've recieved so many bad comments on them from a certain person... ... (HINT: He doesn't realize that talking in IM speak all the time does not make you look cool =P)
