I posted about the full game release on the RPGDX main news page, in case any of you link to that :). I updated the game section but there's a lot mroe info on my website. Comments are welcome here and if you feel you played my game enough to review it, go ahead and give it one. Go to the main RPGDX page for more. _________________ Diver Down

Aaaargh grenideer, did you test this? It restarts after the intro! I can't believe I sat through all that x_x it hurt my eyes. Noise filters do not make good water textures. Especially when you scale them. In paletted mode.
Ow.
When you fix it, please make it possible to skip that intro.
Based on the comments on the vrpg message board, it seems to work for some people. What gives?
Btw, I couldn't get DOS v2 to work, so I used v2.6 for Windows (zeromus's version). Seemed to work fine.

I started playing the game. I looked at my journal after the first entry, and when I exited the journal the game crashed. Luckily I had saved it but when I played the game again from that point none of the text in the menu was showing up! I was running it from a DOS box in Win98. _________________ Mark Hall

Weird... the game's working pretty good now. No sign of those previous bugs. It crashed once in the equip menu but you warned about that in the documentation.
Cool game so far, I'll submit a review once I'm through it. _________________ Mark Hall

Janus, I know the intro's ugly - obviously I had no art help on that. You don't have to watch it though. Go straight to 'New Dive' and play a 'new game' :) . But ya, I didn't support skipping the intro once you're in it. I figured I'd make ya watch it once.
Xmark, I've never seen that text bug thing you mentioned. I'm glad that's all fine now. This game IS tested, a LOT. I have played it through from beginning to end multiple times, and the earlier it is in the game, the more I've playtested it.
The Winv2 version will fix a lot of these weird bugs that v2 has. Sometimes I've seen the game crash saying it couldn't find a file when the resource WAS there. There's just nothing I can do about v2's issues. I never touched the source for this game, so there's no point now.
Oh ya, and only run this version in pure DOS/Win9x. _________________ Diver Down

yeeek, I just crashed out of Emil several times in a row while walking through the gardens. It probably happened when an attack was triggered but I don't know for sure. Maybe it's the music change crashing bug mentioned in the readme?
I hope the next release resolves my crashing bugs.
Also, Drek's bandage skill doesn't do anything when used in combat. Is it supposed to work? _________________ Mark Hall

His bandage skill works for me in combat.
There seems to be some issue with resources getting messed up (inventory/ journal being scrambled, etc.).
FIX:: I heard this can be fixed by restarting the game and loading the game, or maybe by loading a 'good' game first, then loading the game.
these two issues are probably related. If the resources are currently messed up while you try to use the skill, it might not work. I'm just guessing though.
What happens? Do you see the animation but don't heal? Do you see the 'Bandage!" notifier come up but nothing else?
Ya, that emil crash up there is probably that music bug cropping up. I've had that. In the user.cfg you can change sound_device to 3 (i think that turns off sound). then test if that stops the crashes. If it does, then I can't do anythign about that bug, BUT the winv2 version will fix it. _________________ Diver Down

Can someone help me? I guess I really stink at the game but I can't seem to figure out how to progress in the Castle level. I go to the place where the cells are, and there is a guard that is in front of the door. I think I have been everywhere but I can't get past him. This is the very start of the game. I got far didn't I? :) Can someone help?
Also opening the grain bins in the level above caused a crash bug - unknown graphic format or something like that.

heh, talk to the guys in cells a couple of times to get info. When you have a little more background, and you're leaving the area, the royal guard will leave and you can sneak downstairs.
And when you get a key you can use it on the portcullis on the level you started on (by the fire). _________________ Diver Down

The bug with the disappearing text should be fixed. The windows version of DD (and the improved DOS version) shouldn't be too far off, guys. Thanks for reporting bugs! _________________ Diver Down

This is probably offtopic, but allow me to give you my views on that little part of the game, as it appears it's not just me who got lost there :)
Having to just do some arbitrary thing before you are allowed to advance in a game is just unacceptable, especially if there's no logic to it.
Any game in which the solution to most problems is 'talk to everyone until they won't say anything new' is not a good game. Sorry, but that's just how I feel about RPGs. I was highly impressed with the game up to that point (yeah yeah, only about 5 minutes, but I'm on winxp here), but having to walk around and talk to everyone and try and find everything just ruined it for me. After I was done with that, it really wasn't as much fun to play anymore. You're in this exciting section of the game with the fire and the death, and then you walk upstairs and have to take a leisurely stroll around the jail and talk to everyone before you can advance. Sorry, but I'm not feeling it.

Heh, I agree with you Janus. Totally. I coded the game in the order you play it, and that part is 5 years old. Back then I didn't think about things like this, I was just happy to make the game :).
It was actually worse before (I think I made you talk to both guys twice) and I lessened it. I kinda got so used to the game being like that and I never fixed it.
There is not another single spot in the game where the logic works like this. I should change this in the windows release so you only need to talk to 2 prisoners once. Not that that's a perfect solution, but it's the easiest to code and get the winv2 version out with.
Thanks for the criticism. _________________ Diver Down

I really like the game so far. As noted above the solution to the jail cell puzzle didn't make much sense to me. It didn't stop me from playing the game so I guess it didn't matter that much to me. :)
I'm stuck right now where you are trying to steal the horses outside of the castle. They just keep making noise. I looked in my inventory and explored the outside map.
Not sure what to do here. Did I miss something inside the castle?

no, you didn't miss anything.
drek says 'I need to find a way to let the horse know it can trust me.'
go to the right side of the map and pull the long grass out from the ground, and go back and feed it to the horse. After that you can grab a saddle from one of the bags next to them and you're done! _________________ Diver Down
