Makes sense. If i looked back tho and had a game that i thought was really good and it took me any decient length of time to make id be trying to make money from it. _________________ https://numbatlogic.com

you sure? I was going to give you a cut of the profits Tenshi. Wether you like it or not, i'd feel bad charging people for it, and then not paying you for the excellent work you did on it.
And no- it's not about time spent or work performed, but rather about realising a dream of mine. I would make art for free if I had no responsibilities, but I am married and a father now. I have to think outside of myself.
Trust me, the 'demo' game you are getting for free is still a large chunk of the game and a lot of fun to play.

Hehe, well, I'm doing my best to earn my pay :)
about the file: I'm remaking the soundtrack, switching from my ol' XM stompin' grounds to real MIDI sequencing. To compare the song to the original one I made two years ago, listen to this _________________ Mark Hall

Hope the scripts were sent through a spell checker... don't wnat top ay fro a gmae whit speelign eeorrs.
On a more serious note, how do you plan on receiving payment? Paypal takes a cut out of the money, so are you going to do some credit card software thingie (not sure what it's called, but I just hope it's safe and secure), or deal with the cut? Ooor... do we have to mail you a check for $35 plus shipping charges?
::EDIT::
Listened to that song, Xmark. The drums sound terribly out of synch, and so do many other things. Great melody, but I think you have quite a bit of fine tuning to do.

Yeah, that's a bit of a dillema. I could run the whole song through the pro tools quantizer but I want it to sound natural and I'm afraid I might lose the "feel" of the song by matching it to a robotic, steady beat (one of the weaknesses of tracked music formats) _________________ Mark Hall

Quote: | $35 is about the upper limit for what I'm willing to pay for a game. I don't see what difference it makes if the game is indie or not - either the game is good (i.e. worth the money) or it's not. One of my all-time favorite games (King of Dragon Pass) is indie. If anything, I'm more willing to pay for a (good) indie game than for one published by a mainstream publisher. | Indeed. I'm a lot more inclined to give my money to someone who more or less needs it than to some multinational rich corporation. _________________ http://www.weeaboo.se

XMark, I think I gave feedback before about the changeling music, and I liked your other stuff a lot better. Fake sounding mods don't sit well with me - I generally don't like newer stuff sounding like 'video game music'. Anyway, the Changeling mp3 is very awesome though, and making it sound real, at a higher quality, and at a more natural feel makes the song kick butt. Great job on that. _________________ Diver Down

Anyhow anyway whenever there's a good reliable payment method in place could Mandrake please tell us so I can place my pre-order? _________________ If there's life after death there is no death, if there's no death we never live. | ENTP

Anyone know if Paypal just takes a piece of each payment, or if there are any other charges involved with it? I'm thinking of possibly selling The ARC Legacy when I'm finished it (what I'd probably do is release the complete game for free, and sell a special version of it online with higher-quality music files and extra features like mini-games and a manual and stuff) _________________ Mark Hall

I looked into it at one stage, and as far as I know, PayPal takes 2.5% of each purchase. Actually, that was a long time ago, so forgive me if I'm completely wrong here.

the best spell checker of all-> my wife. She's a grammer nazi from hell, but I'm 99.9% posisitive none of my writing would ever have gotten published if it weren't for her skillz in cleaning up my nasty naughty engrish.

Heh, I'm thinking about using http://grabware.com (think that's it, either way....) for the CD productions + replications. And maybe using Lightining Source for a full color snazzy hint book people can buy.
And, I will accept people sending me checks/money orders as well (so you won't NEED to use Credit Card if you afriad of scary security issues), in which you mail it to me and i mail you the goods. With the grabware thing, they would reproduce and mail it on demand, which is nice. Lightning source will also do the print on demand things as well.
Xmark- I love the music....so I'm not gint to comment on it other than it made my jaw drop. And drums don't have to be in synch- most of the best beatle's music the drums were slightly out of synch. Having them in synch (ewww) would sound crappy.

Currently- nothing yet...i didn't know anyone wanted to pre-order yet, heh. I'll figure something out?
Xmark- use grabware. it roxer. _________________ "Well, last time I flicked on a lighter, I'm pretty sure I didn't create a black hole."-
