Funny thing is, this guy's questions kind of inspired me to take another crack at Diver Down (last time I got stuck after I rescued the dude from the castle and he joined my team).

I think I might write a walkthrough for it too, just for the hell of it :)

on www.verge-rpg.com, there is a thread in the General Discussion forum called 'Diver Down on GameHippo.com'. There are two walkthrough's listed therein, but none of them are near finished. It might help get you started, though.

A complete walkthrough would be nice!

the options in the cfg are not set to what they were when I downloaded it.
I played with them a bit, to try to get it to run.
It didn't run when I first downloaded, so I was trying to figure it out.

BUT, the bad news is, Win 2k is not really supported. It might work, but it might not. I don't know. Win 9x and WinXP were all I could test with.

But in my defense I *did* put that info on the download page. Sorry if you wasted your time downloading 20 megs.

So you tried DD multiple times and it wouldn't run? I do agree that the winv2 engine wasn't as polished as it could've been, since it was basically finished to release this game. Verge 3 is not complete yet, but useable and already hella better.

I added sound_device 3 to the cfg file, and still no change.
Oh, I doubt it would help, but here is the message I get from windows after clicking the exe:

The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".

Ya, sorry, that's pretty weird. Well, Xmark, did you use the DOS or the Windows version? The only other thing I could think of is maybe try using a Dos emulator with the Dos version, but honestly that sounds a little sketchy.

I don't think you'll be able to reliably play unless you have win9x or XP. Not sure what's different about your OS and Xmark's - you may wanna compare systems and game versions.

I'm using the windows version, and it's actually working on my Win2k professional system much better than either version ever worked on my old win98 system. Hasn't crashed out once yet.
