Hi, I'm new to this website but heard about it from someone involved in a recent contest.

I'm a music producer specializing in RPG music, currently selling royalty-free rights to stock RPG music at $19.95 per 5 tracks. The offer is non-exclusive, as opposed to a work for hire. However, I'm also open for work for hire as well as incentives for purchasing a content pack and then doing exclusive work for hire.

Here are some tracks (demo versions) that I believe are among the strongest of the bunch:

http://2eastmusic.com/mp3/skies_over_origin_snippet.mp3

http://2eastmusic.com/mp3/melee_madness_snippet.mp3
http://2eastmusic.com/mp3/the_forest_floor_snippet.mp3

Content packs are available at my store www.2eastmusic.com/store.html and work-for-hire commissions per request.

Music in link #3 sounds exactly like Mattias' demo :)

Yeah, that's right, "The Amazing Adventures of Kassandra" is using music from Matt's RPG pack #1, very good stuff :D

These all sound really good, perfect generic RPG music, even if some melodies are a little familliar... as mentioned, the first few notes of Desert Ruins sound lifted straight out of the Zelda theme, and the descending piano line in 'Winter's Grasp' makes me think of a slowed-down version of the Jenova theme from FFVII... plus the oboe lead at one point sounds like the overworld music of FFVI. Just thought it was kinda fun pointing it out. :p (EDIT: and the bassline in 'sea of memory'-- FF battle theme intro-- and the strings in 'a night's rest'-- though that's from an enya song, isn't it? -- among others... Man, I must sound bitchy pointing these out. Intentional references? :p)

Nice combination of sequenced instruments and good samples, sort of reminds me of recent sequenced console game music right before most games made the switch to orchestrated OSTs.

This is a really cool idea actually, makes me think about doing something like this in the future. :)

In January 2008 I will be partnering with Garage Games and it will be available on their store, at www.garagegames.com. My current website store will be reworked, and the product will undergo a rebranding. There will be new and improved music engineering, and a more complete bundle.

Thus, December 2007 will be the last opportunity to purchase these content packs in their current iteration and terms of service.

Thanks to everyone who has expressed interest in this product thus far. Happy holidays and New Year!

Congrats on the GG partnership! Hope that works out well for you.

And... I guess I oughta go take advantage of your current deals, huh? :)

My RPG music pack is now available for license on the Garage Games website!

http://garagegames.com/products/280/

The value is a full game's worth of Square-Enix style RPG music for less than $100. A great opportunity for hobbyist and startup game developers, as well as Torque Engine users.

2EastMusic proudly offers this complete catalog of royalty free music, a perfect score for any game design inspired by classic RPG titles. You can use them as convenient placeholders during development or to compliment your finished product.

What exactly does "royalty free" mean here? Can I use the music in an open source project? After paying, of course.

I believe that with all the royalty free content on Garagegames, you can use it in whatever game you want (so long as you pay). You can't give it away or use it separate from the game.

Whether your game is open source or not probably doesn't matter.

I think the royalty-free refers to that you don't pay any licensing fees to the owner for usage in your project (not including the fee you pay for his product).

So I could bundle the songs with my distribution, but have to state somewhere that, unlike the rest of the project, they are not covered by the artistic license and therefore cannot be freely distributed. Would that work?

Yes.

You generally have to credit the musician somewhere as well. You can probably put that in the same place.
