Heya, I haven't been around in a long while and I can't remember the last time I updated my site. Its pretty much abandoned now, though. Still, it irks me that I never managed to get an RPG finished when I had some stuff that I really liked just lying around.
Anyhow, I love the idea for this comp, and now that I have a lot of free time available I'm gonna enter. I've got some great ideas that i'm thiking of using. Anyhow, i'm off to work on it, so hopefully i'll see some faces on #rpgdx soon.
Cheers. _________________ Some may know me as MidnightDreamer... time for a namechange.

heh i love the idea. Obv I have my hadns tied right now- but I hope alot fo unique games come out from this.
And since when did xmass have anything to with christians? If the name is a prob, why not call it a Winter Contest and leave the holiday part as optional according to religous intent.

About the name, what about Chione Challenge, RPGDX' Snowy Christmas Competition? Yeah, I've gone down to the Greek Mythology again, Chione being the Goddess of Snow
|
Bjorn- my hats off to you, I'm a huge mythology buff but I never knew that! Of course rigth now I'm obssesed with Nordic mythology- but heh, i thought i knew more about greek mythology than I do. _________________ "Well, last time I flicked on a lighter, I'm pretty sure I didn't create a black hole."-

About my Greek knowledge, at the moment it doesn't go much further than Chione and Nostos, which I both encountered on the world wide web. :-)

hey guys! long time no see!
anyways, i entered, but i dunno if i'll finish. i made my scrolling engine (pure qb, pixel scrolling, always my life goal!!) but it's fairly slow though :( so unless i can speed it up soon, i'm not entering. also, i can't compile it :( my prog keeps on shutting down on me, crashing, etc. etc. so i probably won't release it. _________________ Adosorken: I always liked slutty 10th graders...

Glad I'm not the only one who's had issues. I dunno if it's the same problem you're having, but XP's "Print Screen" doesnt save the current palette on full-screen 8 bit modes for some retarded reason. So you end up with clipboard data that has all the right pixels and all the wrong colors. I had to code in a function to manually save the files.

I think that's because DirectX accesses the hardware palette stuff manually. If you use GDI to set your palettes it theoretically will work.
Just a guess, though.

That makes some sense, but doesn't explain why the Win95 Print Screen works without a hitch. Heh.
There I go trying to make sense of Windows, though.
Back on topic, I really wanted to join in on this comp, but I had to face certain realities... Like the fact that I'm working 60 hour weeks, and trying to beat Sword of Mana at level 15. Got to prioritize, after all.
